Richard
(Dick) Clayton Collection -- Clayton family, early Sechelt, Page 5
The
photographs are of the Clayton and Whitaker families, Cowrie Street,
Trail Bay and early Sechelt buildings. Richard (Dick) Clayton is the
son of Edric Clayton who came to Sechelt shortly after WW1 to work
for his cousin Herbert Whitaker in his general store and later for
the Union Steamship Company in its store. Edric opened his own general
store on Cowrie Street in 1950, then a larger one further east in
1956, and finally the family opened Clayton's Heritage Market in the
family's Trail Bay Mall. The store is still a family run business.
