Abram Collection -- Lansdowne Park, Page 2
Mrs.
Abram grew up in England and emigrated in 1951 to Canada with her daughter
a few months after her husband Ken. They lived on Galiano Island where
Mr. Abram worked in the logging industry. Expecting their second child
in February 1952 they were on the way by fish boat to the hospital but
their son Robert had other ideas and was born during a storm on the
boat. The family moved to Vancouver and then to Richmond where Gwen
battled the Vancouver and Richmond welfare departments and big business
in Richmond. The next move was to Prince George where Gwen joined the
Prince George College students' successful sit in. While in Vancouver
and Richmond the family had spent many summers at Mission Point on the
Sunshine Coast and when Ken retired they moved permanently to the Coast.
