The year begins as usual with clippings, commiseration, many questions and many answers. It comes to a sad close, though, with Helen's death in December.

Dear Helen,

I had a wee chat with Billie on the phone so anything here would be a bit repetitious to her i.e. just a repeat of what I told her on the "blower."

Feb. 22, 1983

Dear Bill,

Thanks for your ever-welcome phone call which meant so much to me. Without these little telephone chats every once in a while I know I'd be truly lost!

March 27, 1983

Dear Betty,

It is too bad that your Histus Hernia has been causing you distress since December, especially at night.
