Photographs
are of bridges, cottages, hotels, stores and private houses in Sechelt
and District, many being identified buildings on Sechelt's waterfront.
Excellent photos of Sechelt's first hotel, and the 1914 fire which
destroyed it, Sechelt's second hotel and general store and wharf.
Photographs also of Sechelt Inn, originally Whitaker's house (Vue
de L'Eau or the Beach House), which burned in 1964, St. Hilda's Anglican
Church, and St. Mary's Hospital (in Garden Bay); views of Sechelt's
streets: the Boulevard, Cowrie Street, Inlet Avenue, Shorncliffe Avenue,
and Rockwood Lodge and cottage, Wharf Street and Wakefield Inn in
West Sechelt. Also in this Sub-Series are photographs of Whitaker's
house at Selma Park, the Bank of Montreal at Madeira Park, Deadman's
Island and the CPR station in Vancouver. Photographers include Charles
Bradbury, Edric S. Clayton. Some photographs are copies from Vancouver
City Archives, Provincial Archives and Vancouver Public Library Collection.

-- `Fish Catch' Outside Green Cottage
Geoffrey
Raine and Laddie Boyle pictured outside Green Cottage which had
other names over the years such as Killarney, Kwicherkicken and
Wit's End. This cottage is still standing in 2007 and is now 100
years old.

Built
by Herbert Whitaker as a rental cottage circa 1907, it is still
a family home in 2007. During Herbert Whitaker's and the Union
Steamship Company's eras the cottage was rented to many families.

-- Green Cottage on Trail Bay
From
1919 to 1926 the Wallbridge family from Vancouver rented this
summer cottage before moving into its own. Eleanor, daughter of
D.S. and Bessie Wallbridge, stands outside with family pet.

Green Cottage in the 1950s
In
1951 a Mr. and Mrs. Cooke leased and then bought the cottage from
the Union Steamship Company. He was an engineer for the water
board. Pictured are visitors Mr. and Mrs. Tudhope. He had been
with the Air Force, Department of Transport and Air Liaison Officer
in Paris.

-- Green Cottage in 1976
Built
by Herbert Whitaker Green Cottage was rented out to many families
for summer vacations until it was sold in the 1950s by the Union
Steamship Company to Mr. and Mrs. E. Cooke.
