The photographs in the series show Sechelt's beach, waterfront area, wharf and buldings from 1900 to 1983 both from land and water. The area covered stretches from the rocky area to the west of the gravel beach to the Selma Park waterfront. The photographers include Charles Bradbury, Edric S. Clayton, Alan Gibbons, Helen McCall, Philip Timms, Harry Winn and the Sechelt Peninsula Times photographer. Some photographs are Union Steamship Company pictures. Many of the photographs are copies from originals in the Vancouver City Archives, Provinicial Archives and the Vancouver Public Library Collection.

Late 1920s early 1930s -- Sechelt wharf and passengers in summer.

Federal Government bought a dilapidated wharf from the Union Steamship Company in 1933 and rebuilt wharf head and approach so photographs probably after 1933.

1927 -- Union Steamship Lady Evelyn at dock, Lady Cecilia approaching.

Note reconstruction of wharf with two sheds and two deck areas. This may well date the photograph from 1933. The federal government purchased a dilapidated dock from the Union Steamship Company in 1933 and immediately rebuilt the wharf head and approach.

c1920s -- Underside of Sechelt wharf in the 1920s showing details of construction and stone foundation.

Approach lacks both railing and log girders. Several clinker built boats on east of wharf beside frame of Herbert Whitaker's old boat house, Indian cemetery and First Our Lady of Lourdes in background.

6.3.68

Late 1920s -- Sechelt wharf with badminton court lines.

Arthur Whitaker (father of Herbert Whitaker), is tall man with cane talking to lady in white suit with back to camera. Two sheds on wharf. The three storied building on the Boulevard is the Sechelt Hotel which was destroyed by fire in July, 1936.
