1918 -- Hope McQuarrie with Porpoise Bay School teacher Miss Gladys
Tidy at McQuarrie home, "Tranquil Tara". The McQuarrie
family came in 1912 from Maine to Sechelt where father Franklin
worked as a logger, road foreman and school trustee. His son,
Arnold, worked for Bert Whitaker as a store clerk and wagon driver
then with the whole family moved to Powell River around 1917.
The McQuarrie property, on the west side of Porpoise Bay, is still
called "Tranquil Tara."
