1922 -- Mill at Porpoise Bay

The 1920, 1921 and 1922 Sechelt Directories list Ronald Francis Whitaker as `sawmill operator.' After his return from WW1 brother Herbert Whitaker gave him the Skookumchuck mill to run with a partner. The last listing for him as `sawmill operator' is in the 1923 Directory which also lists Sechelt Lumber and Shingle Company (the mill at Porpoise Bay) Clark, W. W. manager; Morrison, J. E. bookkeeper Sechelt Lumber and Shingle Company; Reynolds, O. millwright.

Trail in west Porpoise Bay running between the Elvin (ex-Mason) house and the Charlie Jordan home just west of unnamed creek. Waters of Porpoise Bay just visible through trees.

1930s -- Porpoise Bay and government wharf built in 1924 to replace Whitaker's wharf.

Bryce Fleck's moored boathouse at the wharf. He was a Vancouver resident had a summer home, `Opeongo Lodge,' on Trail Bay built in 1926.

c1957 -- Coloured postcard of Porpoise bay, Sechelt Inlet, an important base for marine and air traffic serving Salmon Arm, Narrows Arm and Jervis Inlet. The float planes are in front of logging camps and timber mill owner Ted Osborne's lawn.
