1887-1892
-- The Hon. Hugh Nelson, Lieutenant Governor of B. C. between
1887-1892 during which years this photograph was probably taken.
He had bought D.L. 303 and 304 (present day Sechelt) from ex-royal
Engineer John Scales. Nelson's widow sold them to Bert Whitaker
after his death in 1893.

1890s
-- John Joseph Nickson emigrated with his wife Jane and family
from England to Victoria, B.C. where he built bridges for the
E. and N. Railway and supervised the construction of the Victoria
Elk Lake waterworks. In 1888 he was appointed Superintendent of
the Vancouver Waterworks and installed the first water system
in Vancouver from Capilano dam to all parts of the city which
included placing the first pipes under the First Narrows. He oversaw
many engineering projects throughout B.C. and Alberta. He retired
to Sechelt circa 1907 and died in 1912
