1983 -- Erosion of Davis Bay shoreline caused by 1982/1983 winter storms. The materials washed out were not nature's shoreline; instead it was just fill tossed along the beach by the Highways Department in the past. (Helen Dawe's notes)

The whale was captured a short distance from where he was penned.
