1918 -- Islay Findlay with (left) Porpoise Bay School teacher Miss Gladys Tidy at the McQuarrie home "Tranquil Tara" on the west side of Porpoise Bay. The McQuarrie family came in 1912 from Maine to Sechelt where father Franklin worked as a logger, road foreman and school trustee. His son, Arnold McQuarrie, worked for Bert Whitaker as a store clerk and wagon driver then with the whole family moved to Powell River around 1917. The present house is still called "Tranquil Tara."
