1930s,
1943, 1974, 1979 -- The Konishi family first worked on Bowen Island then
came to Sechelt where, in 1912, Jiro (Jimmy) worked for Bert Whitaker
while establishing a successful farm with his wife Hannah and four children
on the west side of Porpoise Bay. They sold fruit, vegetables and milk
door to door and were also involved in the fishing industry on Sechelt
Inlet. By 1938 Jimmy was the proprietor of the Settlers' Supply House
in Selma Park. He died in 1939 prior to the family being interned during
WW11. Jimmy, Hannah and son Seiji are buried in St. Hilda's cemetery in
Sechelt.
