Most
photographs are of Union Steamship vessels, which operated between Vancouver,
Sechelt and Powell River. Some are of other steamship lines' vessels
or are of privately owned ships with connections to Sechelt.

1920s-1930s
-- The Lady Evelyn, arriving at Sechelt wharf, was purchased from
the Howe Sound Navigation Company by the Union Steamship Company
in 1922 and operated until 1936 when she was retired to Bedwell
Bay. Built in Britain in 1901 she had been a mail and passenger
carrier on the St. Lawrence River prior to coming to Vancouver.

1947
-- Built in 1915 as a luxury yacht M.V. Gulf Stream, seen off
North Vancouver, was acquired by Gulf Lines Ltd. in 1947 and lost
later the same year. It hit a rock eight miles north of Powell
River and two women and three children drowned. It was not salvaged.

1910-1911
-- The tug S.S. Hopkins as she is being built at Hopkins Landing
by master builder Arthur Moscrop and the three Hopkins brothers.
She later became the Island Rover and was in regular towing service
out of Vancouver. Converted to a live aboard yacht she became
Rover No.1.
